Careers Appointment Request

The Careers & Gateway Department, is located in D-Block, opposite the Health & Wellbeing Department. The Careers Team are available to help all students gain an understanding of their career interests, skill areas, and develop their career pathways. The Careers Centre is open every interval and lunch time for students to come in with any queries. Students and their families are also welcome to book an individual careers session with the Career Adviser if they require extra academic assistance or career guidance. Here are just some of the events/activities we provide:
  • University course overview and planning sessions (Term 2 & 3)
  • Career development workshops e.g. First Aid and Workplace Health & Safety, Customer Service, Learners & Restricted Drivers Licence Workshops
  • STAR short courses
  • Gateway work experience program
  • Annual ‘JCHS Careers Expo’ with 40+ tertiary providers on site
  • Employment preparation assistance i.e. CVs, job search skills and interview preparation
  • Scholarship information and application assistance sessions
  • Level 2 Trades Academy programmes: Currently enrolled to complete external assessments one day per week (for the year) in IT, Construction, Logistics and Engineering with Techtorium, KIWA Institute, On Demand Training and Manukau Institute Technology
  • Level 3 Trades Academy programme: Currently enrolled to complete external assessments two days per week (for the year) in Construction and Automotive Engineering with Manukau Institute of Technology.
