PPTA Strike Action

Kia ora koutou,

Next Wednesday 20 August 2025 our kura will be affected by a national PPTA teacher strike. Most of our teachers are union members, so only a small number of non-union staff will be onsite.

There will be no lessons on this day, but supervision is available if necessary. If your child needs supervision, please let me know by emailing principal@jchs.school.nz. We encourage learners to stay home.

Partial strikes are also planned for week 10 of this term, September 15 to September 18.

On the following days, teachers will not teach from 9:00am to 3:00pm, instruct, or supervise learners and because our staff are mostly PPTA, we encourage learners from the following year levels to stay at home:

  • Monday 15 September- Year 12 and year 13 at home
  • Tuesday 16 September- Year 11 at home
  • Wednesday 17 September- Year 10 at home
  • Thursday 18 September- Year 9 at home
Thank you for your continued support and understanding.

Ngā mihi nui,
Tina Filipo
