Congratulations to Zoara Ierome, whose Photography was selected for the Pat Hanly Creativity Awards! These awards are open to all Year 12 and 13 students in Tāmaki Makaurau, and Zoara’s work was displayed alongside students from 13 other schools at the Auckland Art Gallery.
This year’s theme was “Tōku Tūrangawaewae,” and Zoara’s work focused on the Samoan traditional ceremony of “Ifoga”. This powerful tradition involves an act of deep humility and reconciliation, where the offending party sits under a fine mat as a sign of regret, seeking forgiveness. Zoara’s piece beautifully captured the values of humility and respect that the “Ifoga” ceremony represents.
