Covid 19 Auckland Moves to Level Three Announcement From School

Like us, you may have just heard that 4 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in a family living in Auckland.

The Prime Minister and Dr Ashley Bloomfield announced several decisions just after 9pm tonight. These decisions include:

  • All of Auckland ‘super city’ will be at COVID Level 3 from middy tomorrow until midnight Friday
  • These 3 days are to stop the spread while lots of testing and tracing is done
  • The rest of NZ will be at COVID Level 2 at the same time.

Our school is now closed until next Monday morning, 17th August.

Unless you are an essential worker, your child or children are to stay at home.

If you are an essential worker and your child has to be at school tomorrow we will have a small number of staff there to look after them from 8:30am until 3:30pm. Please let us know if your child is attending school (email or text/phone 021 336 328)

We are still waiting for more information from the Government and Ministry of Education. When we know more we will send this information out. Please watch out for further updates.

Because this is only for 3 days we will not be providing extra work for all students. Many students will have work that they can do, but if not please treat from now until Monday morning next week like a “long weekend”.

Finally, to avoid any wrong rumours. Yes, we had two students at school today who needed an ambulance to help them. NONE of these students had Covid-19, or anything similar.

Our community has done this before, for much longer and at a higher level. We can do the next few days, and we can do this properly again. The state of Victoria in Australia is a lesson to us all about how important it is to look after each other by following the rules.

If you have any questions please check the news websites, news on TV or radio. Or please call us.
